We would have, if it had come out before we got married five years ago! It really is amazing. One of my favorite things about it is the reminder, from the very first moment of the song, of how quickly things can change and loved ones vanish forever, and how we need to love them as hard as we can while we can. It makes me want to hug everyone. Both waltzes from the same Jay Ungar and Molly Mason album. We laughed and smiled and waltzed together, and I would have been just as happy with either.
Honestly, since they are waltzes with lyrics, I often mix up which song goes with which title. I love this song so much! It is instant emotion for me. Kayjayoh I know some folks are also fond of the John Mayer acoustic version. The next two songs on our playlist were close 2nd and 3rds for our first dance choice: We strongly considered Emmylou, it ended up on our dinner music list.
Plus, it feels cool as hell to say that our first dance was a Beyonce song. Natalie that is a fantastic last song!

The duo has just released its gorgeous and complex fifth record, The Con Vapor Records. The Con in many ways has a darker sound than some of your previous albums. Do you consider this album to be more mature? I feel like a lot of that has to do with production.

As part of the application process you have to go in and basically declare your common law status before notary. So we got up really early and went to this notary in Old Montreal. I was thinking about how funny it is that my life seems so simple and natural, what everyone does in life. You fall in love with someone, you make sacrifices and you do things so you can stay together. And I see that circle imagery – that idea of walking in circles – as how my songs process inside of me.
You get to a point where you are feeling very comfortable and familiar with your situation and your partner and the day comes when you meet someone who knocks you off your feet. But that is the way I am. And there will come a point where our relationship will become a distant thing, but I will come back. And for me, I really like this song, cause it was the end of this like sort of emotional journey I had gone on. It was like, basically I had fallen in love with someone and was trying to woo them.
And it finally came down to the fact that like.. Yeah, what are the lyrics in the chorus? I think you can now. Yeah basically we never hooked up.
But Make It Fashion
I wonder why they are not friends anymore? Maybe Ahryn started getting a little more attention than Jayden, who is desperate for attention and despite behaving otherwise, does want to be liked. She wrote more on that blog but what I posted is what she said about escorts. Seems to lose friends often, huh. That will hurt her career. Harvey Dent Jayden should make truth of her thread to quit porn and se a shrink instead.
Tegan on Sara’s “I Bet It Stung” This is the first song that Sara wrote of the new stuff that got on the record, and she wrote it probably two or three months after we finished If It Was You, our last record which hadn’t even come out yet [at that point].
And you can cry into your turntable about them selling out. With pop music, maybe people aren’t saying it but the whole implication is you’re trying to be popular,” says Sara Quin over the phone from Cleveland, a favourite stop. I always thought that that was bullshit. Quin is calling from the third date in a three-month tour opening for fun. Though the trio has been around for a decade, fun. I mean this business is so crazy,” says Quin.

Now knocking on 33, after a pair of terrific guitar records produced by Chris Walla, Sainthood and The Con, they decided to change some notable things up, chiefly by hiring Greg Kurstin and piling on the keyboards. If we were a band today forget what we’ve accomplished, forget all the things that we’ve done what are the things that we still wanna do?
Where are we at now? And not taking small little incremental steps because of where we’ve been or where we’re at. Let’s pretend today that we’re a brand-new band. What do we wanna accomplish? The karaoke-inspired video for “Closer” has over six million YouTube views.

Am I bleeding from the side of my face? I nearly step on the envelope his good friend Taylor Swift gave him when she announced fun. He lived with his parents full-time or as much as anyone who tours eight months a year lives anywhere until only a year and a half ago—after fun. But this house is where he recorded the first fun. And then when things started going better, everyone was like, Oh, he must be mentally ill.
The real surprise, though, came when he went to check out.
Tegan & Sara July 10, by Juno Demelo in Interviews with Queer Women, The Best of GO Sara Quin, old-soul and one half of sister act Tegan and Sara, on the duo’s new album The Con.
Share A decade ago, Tegan and Sara released The Con, a vibrant, heavily emotional album that showcased the Quin sisters’ knack for pairing left-field hooks with spiky harmonies and crisp songwriting. The album represented an artistic breakthrough for the pair, who had pushed into the mainstream with the jangly hit “Walking With a Ghost. The pair also decided to reach out to the “diverse ecosystem” of musicians around them and put together The Con X: Covers, a new compilation that gives over each of the album’s songs to a different artist including Ryan Adams, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, synth-pop outfit Chvrches, and MC and performance artist Mykki Blanco for reinvention, sometimes to dramatic effect.
We were talking about how to raise extra funds for the foundation, and we were like, ‘Well, maybe we just have other artists cover the songs and package it that way. Other covers showcase the close relationship between the artists and Tegan and Sara’s music — particularly the musical polymath Shamir’s stripped-down version of “Like O, Like H. The year-old singer-songwriter first heard Tegan and Sara when he was in middle school, and he named his personal Tumblr after the track.
I’m so, so honored to have been asked to do it, because I’ve been covering that song to myself for years.

Recently the subject of guys and breakups came up and Sabrina and I went back and forth about what guys generally go through when they breakup. Simple enough to say, but I know plenty of women will talk about how some guy came off like an insensitive jackass after the relationship fell apart because of his actions post-breakup. If a guy is profoundly obnoxious or terrible after a breakup, it is most often a testament to how rough the breakup was on him.
When Tegan and Sara Quin speak of devotion, they do not speak of its most traditional sense. Instead, the word conveys a sense of pressure, one to live up to romantic ideals instead of religious ones.
The Turning the Tables project seeks to suggest alternatives to the traditional popular music canon, and to do more than that, too: This year, Turning the Tables considers how women and non-binary artists are shaping music in our moment, from the pop mainstream to the sinecures of jazz and contemporary classical music. This series of essays takes on another task. The 25 arguments writers make in these pieces challenge the usual definitions of influence. Some rethink the building legacies of popular artists; others celebrate those who create within subcultures, their innovations rippling outward over time.
What is a woman? Breakdancing construction workers in bright orange vests mingled with cheerful cowboys, who doled out canary-yellow Lego award statuettes to audience members. The three members of The Lonely Island, who co-wrote the song, bounced around the stage while sporting powder blue prom tuxes. As the song started, rainbows pulsated behind the duo while they belted out the relentlessly optimistic hook.
They later popped up throughout the performance to bop along with the dancers and earnestly sing various lines, their all-black outfits in striking contrast to the bright color palette.

This album continues the pop sound you introduced on Heartthrob, but it departs in a few radical ways. Namely, is this the first Tegan and Sara album without a single guitar on it? We had to actually go back to Greg and ask. And guitars are just over for me. I think I was already doing that as far back as the Sainthood era [in ].
Dec 31, · Okay but this is the meanest thing anyone said to me in this forum so far. I hate her ddddd. Northshore was a great music video featuring lots of great Tegan & Sara dancing – Sara in particular is super cute throughout. I was dating someone who lived in Southern California and was a surfer (I found this so hot) and was trying to play it.
Brilliant, androgynous, and very likely queer, the young queen rose to power after the death of her father, King Gustav. At age 16, she became the official queen of Sweden. Christina played by relative newcomer Malin Buska surprises her entirely male group of advisers by turning out to be much more independently minded than they expected. Christina also finds herself drawn to Catholicism, and philosophers like Descartes.
However, the relationship can never be equal. Love and duty were often at odds for Christina. A brokenhearted Christina refuses to marry one of her male suitors, instead appointing her cousin as her male heir by way of adoption. The Girl King is beautiful to look at with lush and appropriate period costumes, yet something feels a bit off. It was hard to put my finger on it, but I think it has to do with the way the film was shot.
It feels much more like watching a television movie than a feature film.

It’s a timeless question on the surface, but one deeply engaged with whatever historical moment in which it is asked. Breakdancing construction workers in bright orange vests mingled with cheerful cowboys, who doled out canary-yellow Lego award statuettes to audience members. The three members of The Lonely Island, who co-wrote the song, bounced around the stage while sporting powder blue prom tuxes. Questlove pounded away on the drums beneath primitive drawings of Lego people—and the song’s co-producer, Devo ‘s Mark Mothersbaugh, tickled a keyboard while a red energy dome perched precariously on his head.
Within this multi-hued mayhem were the song’s featured vocalists, Tegan and Sara Quin, cool as cucumbers despite the gleeful chaos around them.
